Taking care of your pets at home


Q: How many dogs do you walk at a time? 
A: We walk no more than 4 dogs at one time and only from the same household. 

Q: Can I specify a particular time for my dog to be walked? 
A: Generally we say that lunchtime walks can be anytime between 11.30 am and 2 pm. However, if you book in advance, we can try to walk your dog as near to the time preferred.  

Q: Where will you walk my dog? 
A: We don't transport dogs. We will walk your dog in familiar surrounds, near to your home. We will try to vary the locations in order to provide variety for your dog. If you'd like to suggest any walking routes, then we'd be more than happy to try them out! 

Q: My dog is nervous around other dogs, will you be able to walk him? 

A: Yes - we don't walk dogs in groups.

Q: Who will walk my dog, will it change from day to day? 
A: No. You will have your own 'assigned pet sitter' (this depends on your location) who will be the main person to walk your dog and bond with him. However,  if for some reason your assigned pet sitter is unavailable, another member of staff will cover them until further notice. 


Q: Can I book occasional walks? 
A: Of course.  We are very happy to offer adhoc walks, but please book in advance to avoid disappointment. 

Q: Can I meet the person who will be walking my dog? 
A: Yes. We always arrange for you and your dog to meet your assigned pet sitter before they start. 

Q: Are your pet sitters insured? 
A: Yes. We are all fully insured, DBS checked and have references available. You will be able to see these documents during your initial consultation.  

Q: Can you do evening and weekend walks? 
A:  Generally, we offer our dog walking services from Monday - Friday from 9 am - 4 pm. However, occasional walks booked during the evenings (if light) and weekends are fine depending on availability. For pet sitting, this of course covers the whole time that you are away, including weekends. 


Q: Do I bring my pet to stay with you when I go on holiday?
A: No. We will stay in your home, where your pet is comfortable. Please see 'Services' for details about our overnight stays.

Q: How long can you do overnight stays for? 
A: Whether you are going away for a long weekend, a fortnight or a month, we are happy to stay with your pet. Please book overnights well in advance to ensure that we will be available.  

Q: Am I insured if the pet sitter breaks any of my belongings? 
A: Pet Care For Less is covered by Public Liability Insurance, which would protect you against any accidental damage to your personal property during an assignment. 

Q: How do I pay? 
A: We now have an online invoicing system where we will send you an invoice via email at the end of each month. There will be bank transfer details on the invoice for you to pay online, or cheques can be made payable to Pet Care For Less.  
 
Q: What happens if my trip is delayed when you are caring for my pet? 
A: Please contact us as soon as possible. We will then continue our service until you return home, making sure your pet is safe and cared for. You will be charged for the extra time we have spent with your pet as well as fuel costs if they apply. 

Q: What happens if my pet becomes ill or injured while in your care? 
A: Before you leave, we ask that you contact your vet to let them know that your pet is in our care. If your pet does become unwell or injured, we will contact you to ask what you would like us to do. If we think your pet needs a vet, we will take them immediately and contact you. Any vet bills will be left for you on your return. 

Q: What do you do with the form I fill in during our initial consultation? 
A: After you have filled in our pet sitting contract, all of yours and your pets details will be transferred and stored on our secure online system. Your assigned pet sitter can log into our system and access information they need when caring for your pet. When filling in our contract, please be as detailed as possible.  We will also keep the original contract you filled in, which will be stored securely.
